Rachel Greer was born in Milwaukeee, Wisconsin and fell in love with the poems of Maya Angelou as a teenager. Currently she is attending college, pursuing a degree in Business Management.
Her book of poems entitled Words of Inspiration from Your Own Kind is her proudest accomplishment yet. Even at her young age, she is an accomplished writer, having completed one novel and nearly a second.
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The hardest part of writing is the discussion of life’s experience from observation; so I had to put myself in the shoes even if I never wore them.
When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
About five years ago, and finished winter of 2011, adding a few more poems.
Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published (if any)?
There wasn’t any, but in all you do, you’ll continue to learn. I like to call being a published author a learning experience.
Have you written a book that you have not been able to get published? If so, can you share a little about it with us?
I’m currently finishing up my second novel which is titled, Over the Edge, and it will be released late fall of 2012.
How did you come up with the title?
The first book title comes from a place of trying to inspire my own kind, my own kind as in human beings. My second novel title comes from a place of intensity and depth which leaves you over the edge.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Currently I’m mentoring an aspiring author by the name of Jason Wilson. His urban novel is titled, I Didn’t Choose the Game, the Game Chose Me which is currently being reviewed by LFF Publishing.
