At what point in your life did you make up your mind you were going to become a published author?
About five years ago, I looked into the shining joyous eyes of the little children at church who run to huge me every Sunday. They are full of life and happiness! Then I thought about the many young adults who no longer have that sparkle in their lives. I needed to do more to help the next generation to keep the joy of life that God has given us. There is so much suffering in our world brought on by broken homes, unwed parents, abortions, homosexuality, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, As I looked at the moral decline in our nation, I began intensive research concerning the problems we are facing and more importantly I started exploring the solutions. The research demonstrated that the problems are very complex, but the solutions are simple if we are willing to get involved.
Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
Igniting the Moral Courage of America: Six Ways You Can Inspire People to Live with Integrity provides examples of how ordinary people have a powerful impact on the morality of future generations. While most Christians wonder what they can do about the negative trends in our country, this book reminds us that God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called. From the 92 year old widow with cancer whose story has inspired the lives of thousands, to the average football coach who changed the lives of his players, to the reformed alcoholic who converted the meanest man in town, God is working!
This book documents the moral problems facing our country as it presents the long-term solutions for these destructive behaviors.
What was the inspiration behind your book? When did you feel a need to write it?
My inspiration comes every time I look at my grandchildren! I want them to live joyous lives in a great nation filled with honest trustworthy people. I firmly believe that the majority of people are good people who want our nation to be morally strong. However, the immoral minority will control the minds of our young if people of integrity remain silent.
