Interview with C. Elizabeth, Author of Absolute Obsession

C. Elizabeth is the author of Absolute Obsession, a contemporary romance novel about Rose Gerbaldi, a 42 year old who by an intervention of fate unites her heart and soul with 30 year old British movie star Michael Terrance. She finds writing to be a peaceful escape and loves to have her characters come to life in her readers' minds. She currently lives in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

It’s interesting, I’ve had this question posed to me on numerous occasions and it's still the same answer, nothing about writing Absolute Obsession was difficult. However, if I had to pinpoint one thing, it would have to be those nasty little words that would evade me, you know the ones, the one’s that dance on the tip of your tongue, but never quite reveal themselves to you.

When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?

I started writing Absolute Obsession on December 26, 2009, and the first draft was finished January 5, 2010. Then there were edits and those took a month or two.

Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published (if any)?

The challenge was getting the rejection letters. You always think in the back of your mind, "if someone would just read the full manuscript", often wondering how they can tell simply by a query letter. Having said that, I know now, they know what they’re doing.

Have you written a book that you have not been able to get published? If so, can you share a little about it with us?

I have one that is at the publishers as we speak for review – it’s the second novel in the Absolute trilogy and it wouldn’t be fair to Michael and Rose if I leaked out their story. There are others that I am working on, but none that I’ve submitted for publication yet.

How did you come up with the title?

The title was easy, it came to me at the same as the ending, it represents the love Michael and Rose have for each other.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

Thank you for having me today. Please keep your eyes out for the second, fingers and toes crossed that #2 gets accepted for publication and please do come and share my blog with me at http://www.celizabeth.ca, all my contact information is there and some other little tidbits. Thanks again.
