After serving in the United States Army and working as a Minneapolis police officer for 14 years, L.G. Bradshaw gathered plenty of information and first hand accounts of the endless stream of human depravity that takes place in the world, to add to his writing. Mr. Bradshaw's newest release, Dot to Dot is a prime example of those traits, as well as a roller coaster ride of drama, comedy, horror, and a necrophiliac serial killer, thrown in for a bit of added excitement. Please tell us a bit about your book, Dot to Dot.
Dot to Dot is a literary relay race orbiting around one central theme: we are all connected. These connections may be seemingly insignificant – bumping into an old friend on the street or passing a stranger in a hospital corridor – but they have the potential to alter the course of our lives, some slightly, others in more profound and lasting ways.The race begins with an embattled US Senator and moves from character to character like wildfire: the senator’s disgraced wife who decides to leave the public eye following the outing of her husband; the motley crew of movers tasked with transporting the senator’s wife and kids back home to New Mexico; a boy who takes matters into his own hands to save himself and his mother from her murderous boyfriend; a private detective who discovers that his past has come back to haunt him; a police chief who spends his own money to help a Mexican family; the Mexican family themselves who are desperate to get their kidnapped daughter back; a country music singer who stumbles on fame after heartbreak; and, finally, a serial killer who has the tables turned on him by a very unlikely avenging angel.If you could meet, in person, any of your characters, who would it be and why? Tony Sanchez, a ten year old boy who comes up with a creative way of dealing with his mother’s homicidal boyfriend.If you could fictionalize yourself and put yourself in any situation, how would it play out? Could you give us a scene/scenario of such an occurrence?I would be the intrepid adventurer, Arizona Smith, searching for fame and fortune in Thailand. His journeys will be appearing in one of my next novels, a fun, sex-filled romp through Southeast Asia. Do you have any particular habits that you do while writing? Places you write the best, foods, drinks, etc that help set your "writing mood"?For me, writing happens anywhere and everywhere. You never know when inspiration is going to strike. You have to be prepared to run with it whenever it rears its head.What are you reading right now?My manuscripts!Who are some of your favorite authors and/or books? Catcher in the Rye is a classic. Greg Iles, Jack London, F. Scott Fitzgerald.If you could meet any author, dead or alive, who would it be and why?I’d love to sit down with Hunter Thompson.
