What did the journal entry say?
I was always passing notes to my friends in class. I kept a notebook full of messages to my friends and when I saw them I'd toss them a note. One of my notes got intercepted by my English teacher and it was read out loud in class. Yup, verrry embarrassing...with my crush's name and everything. I use a lot of my embarrassing moments in my books. (But don't think everything that happens in my books is true, please!)
Are you currently working on a new book? If so, tell me about it.
I'm working on a new one called LynnVisible. It's also for girls! My newest book just came out last month: The College Dorm Survival Guide.
What is LynnVisible about?
A girl named Lynn who feels invisible... until suddenly she becomes the new It Girl in town!
What was your reaction when Disney Channel decided to make your book into a movie?
When my agent called to tell me Disney Channel had bought it for an original movie, I thought to myself: perfect. I felt like that would be a perfect way to bring my book to life. And when I heard who was going to star in it, I knew I was right. Kay Panabaker makes such a perfect Jamie, and her sister Danielle is incredibly talented.
How much input did you get in the script of the movie?
I didn't work on the script, there are two great screenwriters who wrote it. But I did get the opportunity to go to the set for a few days and watch filming. I loved getting to know the actors and seeing them in action. And, I hear I have a brief cameo as an extra in a pizza parlor scene! See if you can spot me!
Did the movie stay true to the book?
I knew changes would be necessary to the book and I just hoped for the best! And I trust Disney. For example, Jamie has an older sister Allie in the book but in the movie, she has an older brother named Lenny. But it worked out great the actor will sing a song in the movie (see if you can spot his brief but funny appearance in High School Musical). And of course, the title got changed. I guessed it would since the book title is pretty long.

Any thoughts on how many other publishers will now jump on the journal-book bandwagon, now that this book has become so successful?
