What was the turning point when you realized you wanted to write and share your voice with the world?
There was no conscious decision. I have stories to tell though, and it seems that people like them. That’s motivation enough to keep writing!
What genres do you prefer to read? Which do you enjoy writing in?
I’m a sucker for a good romance, almost exclusively of the historical variety. I also like detective and crime novels. I read some non-fiction, mostly history or politics. I’ve written four historical romances and two women’s fiction novels. I like writing both.
What five things would you have with you at all times if you had to be prepared to take a trip at the drop of a hat?
Golly! That’s a tough one! My cell phone. My laptop.Comfy slippers. My husband. (Don’t tell him he came in fourth on the list.) My purse.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
Hmmm... I think I’d like to be able to travel back in time, only if I could get back to current day, though. I’m too fond of clean water, aspirin, and vaccinations to leave for good. I wonder what it would have been like to live when the U.S. was battling for independence. Was there an excitement at our fledging nation for an every man? Did folks realize the seriousness and the gravity of the situation or do those observations only come after an event has played out? Was there a common sense of purpose felt not only by great minds such as Franklin’s, Jefferson’s, and Adam’s or was there a building excitement and promise shared neighbor to neighbor? I’d don hooped skirts and a bonnet to find out.
What footprint do you want to leave behind in this world?
I hope to leave well-educated and kind children and grandchildren to lead and contribute to the next generation.
