Interview: Alessandro Tesio, Author of The Difference

Alessandro Tesio made his writing debut in 2009 with his horror/Christian novel The Difference, originally in Italian, but it has now been translated.  He is a writer, a blogger, and composer of many fantasy short stories. He has traveled often, meeting many people and learns things from all of them, things he uses to formulate his characters in his work.  He hopes to be able to leave Italy one day and reside in the US.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part was to build the characters, their personality, mentality and try to imagine them in my mind. It is important create a “living” character. Readers must love/hate them like a real person.

When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?

I started at the end of 2008 and finished it at the end of 2009.

Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published (if any)?

Well a lot of challenges. I tried to find a publisher and editor overseas but finally I found them here in Italy. For now the book is published only here but, with Amazon, I self-published an English version on Kindle and in paperback.

It's not easy to find a right publisher because the most books are published in English. Other language are not so widely available. Fortunately I found a translation agency that translated my book in American English.

How did you come up with the title?

Is a very interesting question. “The difference” has a deep meaning.
All people facing a difficulty or bad situation in life can choose how tackle/face them. This is “The difference” from those who believe in something or not.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

My book is not only a novel. It's not only a fun book written for readers to enjoy, but I want transmit/pass/instill a correct understanding of life. Fantasy stories must teach “something”. I tried, with my book, to do this.
