Great Americans, Real People - KK Ottesen

I knew Sean Connery. I knew Russell Simmons. I knew Tweety Bird. They were all real, unfamous people. This is a great idea for a book, especially a photo book, such as this. As amazing at it sounds, there is another Temple Stark; he's suffering from a, so far, mild case of Alzheimer's in Texas.

I'm just saying, you might think about wanting to possibly consider wondering whether you want to name your child, Temple A. Stark.

Publisher's Weekly - Famous Names, Real People

Al Capone works in a South Philly food distribution center; Emily Dickinson studies chemistry at a Quaker college; Greta Garbo, born in Italy, is a divorced cancer researcher living in Kentucky. From John Adams to John Wayne, Ottesen reveals, through b&w photographs and informal interviews, the people who share their names with giants in American history and culture.

Triangle.com - Name Recognition

The book, which will be available July 4, profiles 51 Americans, one from each of the 50 states, plus Washington, D.C. Each has a name you would recognize.

There are an Oregon preacher named Paul Revere, an Iowa grandmother named Marilyn Monroe and Homer Simpson, a Tennessee dairy farmer.

Ottesen, who hails from the Washington area, always had a curiosity about people who live in other parts of the country.
