Anything written by Charlotte Stein promises a good read, and Telling Tales is certainly no exception.
The main character, Allie, has wanted Wade ever since college. The two of them were in a writing group together, along with Kitty and Cameron. After college, the four of them drift apart, living their own lives. That is, until their former Professor leaves them a mansion in his will, under the proviso that they'll stay there for a month and take care of any repairs that need doing. It's a chance for the four of them to reunite and have fun together like they used to. Only there's much more to it than that...
It quickly becomes apparent that there's some serious sexual tension flying around. Allie wants Wade, and for the first time ever, she gets the impression he feels the same. That is until she finds him in bed with Kitty. Then, after a startling encounter in the dead of night, Allie finds herself looking at Cameron in a completely different light. As her feelings about both men change, Allie finds herself unsure who she really wants.
As she tries to untangle the web and work it out, the stakes grow higher and higher. Their tradition of reading out their stories to one another becomes more dangerous as erotic stories are thrown into the mix, and the results are both smoking hot and wildly confusing for those involved. Will the four of them work out what they want before it's too late?
My summary: wow. I struggled a little with the beginning of Telling Tales -- but it soon sucked me in and refused to let me go until I'd devoured the very last page. Charlotte Stein's inimitable style makes all of her work great fun to read, not to mention scorchingly hot, and Telling Tales is definitely a good example of this.
