eBook Review: Escalation Clause by Liz Crowe

Part of: Reviews in Brief

Escalation Clause is the sixth book in the Stewart Realty series, and if you haven't read the first five you won't have a clue what's going on, so please read those before you attempt this one.

This novel by Liz Crowe continues the story of the characters we've come to know and love, focussing particularly on Jack Gordon's sister, Maureen. Having lost her husband, she's been bringing up her children alone and hasn't been with another man, and didn't want to, until she met her daughter's sexy soccer coach. Rafe is super hot, and feels the same way about her. The trouble is, he's younger than her, and she's not quite sure if she's ready to move on with her life.

Other parts of the book deal with Rob Freitag and Lila Warren, and Jack and Sara Gordon. All of the characters have problems and are having to deal with various tragedies. But the question is, will they pull together and see things through, or allow circumstances tear them apart?

This is another spectacular novel from Liz Crowe. Her characters certainly do not have easy lives, but that's the whole point—her books are realistic. They could be someone you know, or even you. For this reason, the book is engaging and easy to read, though at times you'll probably find yourself shouting at the characters out of frustration.

Overall, Escalation Clause is a well-written, emotional roller-coaster of a read. If you've read books one to five, definitely don't miss this one.
