Oceanhouse Media has added to its Dr. Seuss eBook collection with Dr. Seuss's Beginner Book Collection #1, five Dr. Seuss classics that can now be enjoyed as eBooks. I looked at the Apple version for the iPad and iPhone.
The storybooks can be enjoyed in many ways. To turn a page, little and adult hands can swipe the screen from side to side. Words can be highlighted by tapping an illustration or a word in a paragraph. Dr. Seuss's wonderful illustrations zoom in as you are reading to add to the fun. A paragraph can be read again and again by holding a finger over it.
In the "Read to Me" feature a narrator recites the story, each word highlighted progressively. Kids read the story on their own in the "Read it Myself" feature, tapping each word at their own pace. In "Auto Play" the narrator reads the story and the pages turn automatically, but young readers can still tap the pictures to see highlighted words jump out at them from the paragraph.

The Cat in the Hat — Probably Dr. Seuss's most famous and popular character, the Cat in the Hat and his cohorts Thing One and Thing Two both entertain and cause problems for a brother and sister on a rainy day while their mother is out.

Fox in Socks — Fox and Knox specialize in tongue-twisters that are sure to amuse kids and their parents.

Freezy trees made these trees cheese freeze.
That's what made these three free fleas sneeze.
Stop it! Stop it!
That's enough, sir.

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish — A boy and girl have some very interesting animals for pets.
"Some are red, and some are blue.
Some are old and some are new.
Some are sad, and some are glad,
And some are very, very bad."
The Foot Book — Dr. Suess's great rhyming book about opposites.
"His feet,
Her feet,
Fuzzy fur feet."
Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? — A perennial favorite, it's fun to read or hear it being read to you, with all of the funny noises made by Mr. Brown and various creatures.
"Moo moo, buzz buzz, pop pop, klopp!
Cock a doodle doo, hoo hoo, dibble dibble dopp!"
Oceanhouse Media continues to help make Dr. Seuss classics come to life in the eBook format. Older kids can enjoy favorite books in a new, fun, interactive format. Dr. Seuss's Beginner Book Collection #1 is fun, but it still respects Dr. Seuss's original books and illustrations. The bright graphics and different ways to enjoy the stories are a great way to encourage children to read — and adults will enjoy a new way to read to their kids as well.
