I don't know if it's the geek in me, but I felt my heart warm with joy to see Green Lanterns fighting Chinese metahumans! I don't know who this team of eastern Avengers-esque people are, but they really give John Stewart and Hal Jordan a run for their money. This is the first time the Lanterns have appeared in action for 52. Obviously, they were in the big reunion of characters in issue 1, but they have never been duking it out with anyone.
This seems like another story added to the ones that are already being followed thus far, but after the Lanterns go a few rounds with these Chinese "heroes," one person rushes to the battlefield and it all becomes clear. A certain angry, villain-mutilating "hero" we've seen in previous 52 issues reveals yet another part of his master plan. I love him. I just love the nastiness of this "hero," and the only thing better than seeing him in this issue is knowing that he'll be back to stir the pot up again.
On another side of the planet, Booster Gold is up to no good, and I’m not referring to his usual feats of heroism pre-planned with the help of the robotic font of historical knowledge, Skeets. This time, Booster's doing something that I hope will get him forever banned from Justice League membership. I guess after his deals with his last sponsor ended in a scandal, Booster is desperate for cash. If he gets away with this scheme, I'll be highly disappointed in the 52 writers.
What did make me smile, though, is that Booster Gold discovers that he is in the middle of something, and that's not a good thing. He's going to wish that the year ended sooner. I love how Booster Gold's story is progressing, and I am seeing why he was turned into such a dick for this weekly series. They'll probably make him into a true blue hero by the end of this, instead of just a money-grubbing one.
I think that week six is one of the better issues of 52 thus far, just for Booster Gold's discovery alone. I also enjoy some straight up action, and the Lanterns gave all that and more.
