Bye Bye Love by Virginia Swift, takes its readers through decades of activism and examines the consequences of what it means to stand for what one believes in.
As the story opens, Professor Sally Alder is asked to find out what has happened to Nina Cruz, a former friend. Since the request is made by Stone Jackson, Alder's all time favorite singer, she can hardly refuse.
Nina runs the Wild West Foundation out of her Wyoming ranch. Besides her, there is a unique mix of people helping her. Nicknamed the Dub Dubs by Jackson, Sally quickly discovers that they are a group devoted to wildlife and preservation causes.
There is reason to be cynical when Nina dies by a gunshot in the woods right next to her house. Since Sally was on the premises at the time, she has no choice but to start her own investigation.
What would a college professor know about solving crimes? Plenty. Sally just happens to be a historian, which has honed her information gathering skills. Besides, she has a relatively close relationship with the local sheriff. Not to mention a solid bond with the owner of the Wrangler, who is also the sheriff's sister. The Langhams are the biggest names in town, as a matter of fact.
With all that takes place, there is not a shortage of suspects. What the final few pages pull together at the end are all the loose ends.
