Book Review: Who Stole My Joy? by Sandra Steen

In Who Stole My Joy?, Sandra Steen uses a unique approach to teach others how to capture joy in their lives. Steen personifies “Joy” and follows his journey as he meets either friend or enemy in each chapter. Each quality is also personified as well as Steen shows its effect on “Joy.” There are over 40 characteristics covered throughout the book including selfishness, insecurity, positive attitude, and hope.

Steen closes by helping the reader to identify “who” stole their joy. She then gives steps to help them regain what has been lost. She explains “joy protectors” and encourages readers with daily affirmations that they can use to start themselves on the path back to a joy-filled life.

Sandra Steen is one of the world’s most respected speakers and authors. Steen has won many awards for outstanding contributions in corporate America, including: Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, Women of Enterprise Award, Texas Woman to Watch, International Firm of the Year, and the African American Business Professional Service Award.

More than 500,000 people, including employees from companies such as AT&T and Sony, have profited from her workshops. Her seminars are designed to help the listener develop both personal and business success. The book also includes a free CD, “Discovering Joy,” to give the reader a small taste of one of Steen’s live workshops.
