Book Review: Where Am I Going? Moving From Religious Tourist to Spiritual Explorer by Michelle Cromer

Michelle Cromer’s Where Am I Going is a thought-provoking and honest book about the process of her spiritual evolution. It should be pondered and its wisdom applied one step at a time. This is a book that needs to be read and then reread often.

Many of us seem to be stranded trying to fathom what our lives mean. The values that once held our society together are dissolving. We can’t control the forces that cause us pain and suffering.

We tend to move along mindlessly from one task to another, filling our time with empty activity so that we don’t have to feel the void within us. Until we discover the void in our lives and believe we need something more to make our life meaningful, we will be taking the first steps to transforming our life.

For Cromer, lasting transformation can only occur from the inside out. No amount of possessions or outside approval will transform us to the point where we will feel in control of our life.

In her book, Cromer outlines seven stages of self-transformation that are necessary to gain meaning in our lives. As we journey through these seven stages, they will bring us more awareness and meaning.

There is a spiritual quality in the heart of every person. Each person can find meaning by determining a purpose to her life, doing work that makes a difference, serving one another, and knowing that there is a Higher Power helping make our life much more meaningful from the inside out.

I recommend Where Am I Going to all individuals who aren’t happy with their lives and feel that there is something missing. The route to self-transformation begins with stopping being in denial, taking off your mask, and sitting down and read Cromer’s book.

I know that I will be rereading her book many times. And each time, I hope to get deeper into the seven stages of self-transformation. I wish the same for you.
