Book Review: The Lost Civilization Enigma: A New Inquiry Into The Existence of Ancient Cities, Cultures, And Peoples by Philip Coppens

The Lost Civilization Enigma: A New Inquiry Into The Existence of Ancient Cities, Cultures, And Peoples Who Pre-Date Recorded History by Philip Coppens is an intriguing work which leads readers to believe that we were not the first to have a transoceanic commerce between Europe and the Americas.

Coppens cites a variety of experts who attempt to explain key places and facts in ancient history. For instance, Henrich Sohliemann is convinced that Troy was found in Hissarlik, Turkey. This description fit Homer's. The quest for Troy is still an open issue according to Coppens.

The author discusses Catal Hoyuk which is the largest and best preserved Neolithic site. Burroughs Cave is the site where European nobles left the area before Columbus came to America. The Ica stones depict humans battling dinosaurs. This is one of the most controversial scenes in the history of archeology because dinosaurs are known to predate humans by 60 million years.

Coppens shows the wanderings of the deity at Viracocha at Machu Picchu and the Nebra Sky Disk which depicts stars and moon phases. Each site has existed for centuries. The Pyramid of Caral in Northern Peru is 1000 years or more older than ancient Egypt.

The book depicts samples of rock paintings at Tassili which are thousands of years old. The time period is proximate to the time when the Sahara was fertile. Coppens discusses the site of Atlantis (9600BC) in front of the Pillars of Hercules or the Strait of Gibraltar circa the southern tip of Spain. The City of Sens is identified as a megalithic civilization which Marcel Mestdagh identified as Atlantis.

Coppens depicts the Temple Complex of Sri Ekambaranathan in India. There is a vast underground infrastructure believed to contain remnants of Mu which disappeared millenia ago.

The Lost Civilization Enigma by Coppens documents actual artifacts, monuments, and even land masses that pre-date humans and exist throughout parts of the world today. The author presents both plausible phenomena, as well as issues like Atlantis which remain unresolved even to this day.

The book has spectacular full color pictures of the cave paintings of Lascaux, Machu Picchu, the Nebra Sky Disk, The Layard Lens, Gobekli Tepe, the pyramids of Caral, the Antikythera device, and the Megalithic temple complex of Callanish.
