Have you ever fallen in love with a world created in books? Alageasia? Narnia? Middle Earth? Or the worlds from A Wrinkle In Time? Then you will love O.R. Melling’s The Chronicles of Fearie series.
O.R. Melling’s The Chronicles of Fearie was originally published in Canada. The Hunter’s Moon was greatly praised when it appeared over a decade ago. O.R. Melling has updated and expanded the story for its U.S. debut. She gives us more of her Ireland to fall in love with. The mystical land she describes, in these stories, is rooted in real Ireland, its history, legends, music, language, and landscapes. This series is for young-adults.
In The Hunter’s Moon, Gwen, and Findahair, her Irish cousin, go on a trip around Ireland. When Findahair is kidnaped by the King of Fearie, their trip is cut short, and turned into a dangerous and fantastical adventure. Gwen must save Findahair from becoming the King’s bride, or worse, a sacrifice.
What is The Hunter’s Moon? It is a celebration of the fairies, maybe not so much celebrate as sacrifice. A sacrifice to what or who? The Hunter, a fierce, worm-like creature, that once haunted fearie. Much like the Dark Lord in The Lord of the Ring, or the Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia. His name is Crom Cruac. Can Gwen save her cousin, The Land of Fearie, and her self? Find out in the First book of The Chronicles of Fearie.
The Hunter's Moon is a cobination of suspence, romance, humor, adventure, and fantasy.

I was disappointed in this book. It was... good but it could have used some more detail. The end was great but it was anticlimactic. The whole way your running, running, running and then it comes down to three pages of a fight that in the end means nothing. Ok, so the guy gave up his immortality… but he loved that girl and would have given it up anyway.
The cover art work is awesome though.
