Stash Happy Patchwork is the perfect craft book for anyone who finds themselves collecting fabric more than using fabric or who always has leftovers they store away for a rainy day. This book contains 25 different sewing projects that make really gorgeous patchwork items. The first chapter will introduce you to the basics you need to create these projects. It also introduces you to the basic patchwork kit supplies you'll need — most of which any seamstress will have on hand already. You'll also learn about piecing and stitching (hand and machine).
There's a great variety of projects included in this book including decor, women's clothes, children's clothes, pet projects, household accessories and even a rug! The amount of fabric each project uses varies greatly, which is fantastic. If you have only scraps, you can make some adorable cupcake flags. If you have a moderate stash, you can try a hobo bag or cozy cones. If you have tons of fabric, try making the patchy wrap skirt.
Each project has a gorgeous, full cover photograph of the finished item. There is a section that details the items you need — one from your stash of material and one from the craft store. Also included is a detailed, step by step instruction area that references step by step photographs. The back of the book includes the necessary templates you need to create your patterns. Some of the patterns need to be enlarged which I did easily on my printer.
I found this book very inspiring and easy to follow. The projects include ideas for both adults and children as well as items that are suitable for gifts and decorating. There's a wide range of projects for every skill level. My sewing skills are fairly basic, and I found several projects that I felt comfortable doing. The projects are easy enough to modify slightly if you have different embellishments or accent pieces. The flexibility allowed me to use some items from my craft stash and just purchase the items I didn't have on hand. This is a wonderful way to use up those smaller pieces of fabric you have in your stash.
