Book Review: Sin and Syntax by Constance Hale

Sin and Syntax, by Constance Hale, is the best book on writing I've ever read. It doesn't matter if you are new to writing or a seasoned pro, you need this book. I keep it at my side at all times!

Constance Hale has a style of writing that flows like poetry. This book is easy to understand and Hale's insights into writing, when you apply them, will make your writing dance with rhythm and clarity. Things that you forget or have forgotten long ago, and things that you may have never thought of, are covered in a way that you will find no where else.

Hale says "Forget schoolmarmish rules. Forget grammar as it was drilled and grilled in grade school." She advises that you toss your academic writing, and write with meaning.

If you are a writer, at any level, you need this book. Buy it, you won't regret.

I love this book as well, DL, though I've not read it deeply.

Please expand on some of the "things" you mention -- what did we forget, and what would we have never thought of?
