Book Review: Signature Styles by Jenny Doh

I have to admit that crafts and fashion are two of my favorite things! You can imagine that a book that combines both of these things is sure to grab my attention! Signature Styles: 20 Stitchers Craft Their Look by Jenny Doh gives you the inside scoop on how 20 women are influenced by the world around them to develop a distinctive look. You'll learn about best-selling authors, popular bloggers, savvy entrepreneurs and more. Each crafter shares their home or studio, talks about her style, shares a key technique that she's known for and teaches you how to make one of her exclusive projects.

This book is so much fun to look through. Each chapter is devoted to one woman. There are tons and tons of photographs to inspire you. I love to look at the areas that other crafters work in. You not only see their craft area, but you see them in an outfit that they would typically wear that includes something they made. You see examples of a bunch of projects they've done and (best of all) you get a link to their website or blog so that you can follow them and keep being inspired by their creations.

There is one fashion-related craft showcased with directions for each crafter. Crafts include clothing like sweaters or aprons, jewelry, hair accessories, and even bags and totes. There are a number of different styles to appeal to everyone's sense of style. I love that there are crafts suitable for both the beginner and the more advanced crafter. While I can sew, I am not sure I could create something complicated so I was quite happy to find several simple sewing projects. There's even a project included that uses crochet along with sewing for those that can crochet. Each crafter also includes style and fashion tips that they follow like their favorite colors or patterns or decorating ideas.

I love being able to showcase some of my crafts by making wearables. I chose to create the Wood & Roses Necklace and found the directions very easy to follow. Each step was written out and included an easy to follow photograph as well. Templates are included in the back of the book where needed. If you'd like to try creating your own fashion items or accessories, this is a fantastic book to get started with!
