Book Review: Photoshop Filter Effects Encyclopedia by Roger Pring - Page 2

Part of: The Enlightened Image

The "Stylize Filters" are nine filters that are used for effect more than enhancement. They include Diffuse, Emboss, Solarize and Wind. The "Texture Filters" include Grain, Stained Glass and Texturizer. They are use to add visual interest and form to an image. The final group, "Other Filters," are the filters that don't fit well into the other groups. They include High Pass, Extract, Liquify and Vanishing Point. There is also one called Custom that will let you design your own filter.

It can certainly be argued that the filter option is one of the most versatile features of Photoshop. If you work with filters or want to learn to work with filters, Photoshop Filter Effects Encyclopedia is highly recommended as a compact guide and reference as well as a tool to enhance your filter knowledge.
