Book Review: Mystic Journey: Getting To The Heart Of Your Soul's Story by Robert Atkinson - Page 2

Atkinson describes the essential dialectic of life which is to resolve the flow of opposites into a oneness of being. Thus, the goal of our common spiritual background is to achieve unity through the duality of reconciling opposites.

Odekirk teaches that the soul must be accountable for every act and action during life. And so, enlightenment is the highest state a mystic can reach through great contemplation-sometimes for years. Jesus, Buddha, and the greatest mystics all practiced isolation in order to become enlightened.

Mystic Journey is an important work on the temporal steps to achieve oneness through a continuous struggle on earth until each of us sheds the negations of material excesses in favor of unity with a higher Supreme Being. The book is written well. In addition, the author poses classic existential questions at the heart of religion and philosophy today. Odekirk also teaches unity through contemplation and an enlightenment of the human spirit.
