Book Review: Millennial Fears by Debbie Boucher

Part of: Reviews in Brief

Debbie Boucher has given readers everything they want in Millennial Fears: love, crisis, and psychic abilities.

The story revolves around two friends, Jazmin and Stephanie, and their friend Pedro. Each girl was born on the same day and same time, and they have a connection that most friends don’t.

Both Jazmin and Stephanie want to go to college, but meet with some resistance from their family. Pedro also wants both girls to stay home as he knows once they leave, their friendship would never make it. Pedro himself — who is very religious and tries to convert his friends to the same thinking — has no desire to leave his town.

The remainder of the story revolves around the girls’ time in a new city and new boyfriends. Each girl gets pregnant with men who leave them, and we follow along as they experience many trials and tribulations getting older. Jazmin and Stephanie go back home to see if they really are missing something, facing a future perhaps facilitated by their aunts, who have the ability to read tarot cards and foresee what is coming.

Although Millennial Fears is a large book, 405-pages, it goes fast and you can’t put it down. The author has written this in such a way that it captures all your attention.
