Book Review: Knuffle Bunny - A Cautionary Tale by Mo Willems

I first read this story about two years ago, and I thought it was cute. However, at the time I didn't have a two-year-old who was attached to a Piglet toy and so I couldn't really relate. I have since reread the story, now a handful of times, to my own "Trixie" and appreciate it much more having left Piglet at a restaurant (after realizing twenty minutes into the ride home that we didn't have him we had to turn around to get him). My husband in particular loves reading the story to our daughter.

This is the story of Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, by Mo Willems (of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus fame). Trixie and her dad set off one day through the city to the local laundromat to do some laundry, with Knuffle Bunny (a favorite toy) in tow. Trixie "helps" her dad put the clothes in the machine and even gets to put some money in! On the way home Trixie begins to realize that someone is missing. Where is Knuffle Bunny? But she can't make her daddy understand that Knuffle Bunny is missing: "Wumby flappy?" she asks. Of course daddy doesn't really understand her.

By the time they arrive home Trixie is beside herself and daddy is pretty worn out from the drama. It takes mommy only a second to realize what the problem is and a race back to the laundromat ensues. Will they find Knuffle Bunny? Join Trixie, her daddy, and Knuffle Bunny in this hilarious story of a childhood toy gone missing.

Those with young children who have a "Knuffle Bunny" of their own will especially appreciate this tale of Trixie and her bunny.
