Book Review: Kiss That Frog: 12 Great Ways to Turn Negatives in Your Life and Work by Brian Tracy and Christina Tracy Stein

How many of you walk around unhappy and even miserable because of something that happened to you in the past? How many of you keep repeating these negative patterns over and over again out of habit? If you are such a person, which I think would include most of us, Brian Tracy’s and Christina Tracy Stein’s book is for you.

Kiss that Frog is about how you can change your negative experiences into positive ones. The authors outline seven ways that you could be your best and develop a positive personality for a happier life.

First, you should engage in positive self-talk. Instead of always uttering negative things about yourselves and your experiences, you should change your scripts.

Second, you should practise positive visualization. Instead of thinking that bad things will happen, you should visualize success.

Third, you should hang around positive people. They can help you feel less negative.

Fourth, consume positive mental food by reading motivating and inspiring books.

Fifth, engage in positive training and development by committing to lifelong learning.

Sixth, practise positive health habits.

And lastly, develop positive expectations by not allowing yourselves to be negative or skeptical.

Tracy and Stein argue that you can control your expectations and your lives. Negative thoughts, and the emotions that result from them, can leave you stuck in a negative rut of your own making for many years. Tracy and Stein urge you to take charge of your lives right now. In this way, you can transform your negative experiences into positive ones.

I thoroughly enjoyed Kiss that Frog. It’s easy to be happy and positive-minded when you’re young. But as the years creep up, many of us feel much less positive. I sure wish this book was available when I was younger.
