I really love working with felt. It's much more forgiving than working with fabric and generally a lot less expensive. I always seem to have pieces of felt in my craft stash from projects the kids worked on or leftovers from past creative moments. Felt projects tend to be smaller in scale than many fabric projects and for the most part, they don't require a sewing machine. That means I can get them done in less time so I actually finish them. I tend to have a pile of partially completed projects that I'm going to finish "someday" soon.
Heart-Felt Holidays: 40 Festive Felt Projects to Celebrate the Seasons is a new book that's offered by the creators of Fa la la la Felt, Kathy Sheldon and Amanda Carestio. Heart-Felt Holidays is loaded with fun, easy felt projects you can create for all the classic holidays. Not only do you have projects for all of the traditional holidays, you will also find felt projects for Chinese New Year, Groundhog Day, St. Patrick's Day, Teacher Appreciation Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Earth Day. There are so many projects that you will definitely be busy creating for the whole year. You'll find forty different felt holiday projects in Heart-Felt Holidays along with all the necessary templates you'll need.
The projects in Heart-Felt Holidays are arranged chronologically starting in January with projects for New Year's Eve. The projects continue through the year and end in December with Kwanzaa. There are also projects included in Heart-Felt Holidays for birthdays and baby showers that you could use throughout the year. Each project has a photograph of the finished project so you know what it should look like. Also included are a list of needed supplies and detailed, step by step directions for how to create the project shown. The directions are really very well written and when necessary, there are extra photographs to show close ups or drawings to show more detail. All of the templates are located in the back of the book so you can copy them and re-use them.
