Most of us have a difficult time to resolve conflicts. We usually get emotionally charged up and we end up really feeling awful at the end of it because so much remains unresolved. In this book, the authors show the reader how they could welcome conflict not as an enemy but as something to be learned from.
Many of us avoid dealing with conflict because we simply don’t understand the importance of it. We don’t know how to resolve conflict in a productive manner, a manner which will be a "win-win" for us. Conflict resolution can impact our personal and professional lives. So, it is in our best interest to learn how to resolve conflict in the healthiest manner possible.
Have a Nice Conflict explores the journey of one sales manager, John, who is denied a promotion that he believed was well-deserved. When John contacts his mentor, Dr. Mac, he learns to understand how to prevent becoming a victim because of the conflict. Dr. Mac believes that to resolve conflicts we must understand our own motives and then tailor our responses to the situation based on our knowledge of the other person’s motives.
There are many reasons why we should read Have a Nice Conflict. But one of the most important from my perspective is to understand that conflict is complicated and multifaceted. If we try and simplify it, we will get lost in the mire of negativity and victimization. The book is set up to show the reader how to anticipate, prevent, identify, manage, and resolve conflict.
I absolutely cannot say enough nice things about this book! I recommend Have a Nice Conflict to anyone who feels crippled by conflict in their lives. After reading the book, we will be encouraged to not only live past conflict but to welcome it into our lives in all of our relationships.
