Mr. Harvey was also unlike other journalists of his day (or any other time) in that he was not afraid to let his views be known on controversial issues. Mr. Batura does an excellent job of demonstrating how many times Mr. Harvey would take a firm stand on certain issues (particularly the Korean and Viet Nam wars) and how people would still be drawn to his broadcasts not so much because they either agreed or disagreed but respected him for making his views known.
Through his two programs Paul Harvey News and Comment and The Rest of the Story, Paul Harvey touched millions of lives each day. When Paul Harvey delivered the news it made the listener feel good about America no matter how bad the news of the day might have been. He was an American treasure. Thanks to Paul Batura's wonderful biography, we now know the rest of Paul Harvey's story.
