If you were to walk away with only one big idea from this book, it's that you can't achieve goals by focusing on the problem. You have to focus on the solution, and more specifically, the process that will help you get there. Once you set an ambitious goal, you then identify the top three tasks, or process goals, to finish every day that will best help you achieve your big. By doing the three process goals every single day, you will reach your goal. Makes sense.
Selk provides workbook pages to help readers set goals, identify and prioritize tasks, and track their progress. There are question guides, self-assessments, and checklists to help you stay on-message, perfect your focus, and sharpen your discipline. He even has some fascinating techniques that train you to be optimistic. All of the mental tricks and techniques in this book are designed to get your brain and body working at optimal performance.
I highly recommend this book for anyone with an ambitious career or business goal. Dr. Selk possesses the clients, credentials, and charisma to give this book the believability factor. If you don't want to make a million dollars, perhaps you'd like to go down a pants size. You can do either one by learning mental toughness.
