Book Review: Dude! and Dude Diary by Mickey and Cheryl Gill

Dude! and Dude Diary are books written for tween/teen boys. Dude! is subtitled "The Book of Crazy, Immature Stuff!" for a reason. These books are filled with disgusting, gross stuff that are sure to appeal to your tween/teen boy. The cover art of these two books include bugs, robots, skulls, boogers, guns and a host of other gross and disgusting graphics that the developing boy in your life will find hugely attractive.

The pages are a variety of black and white and color with both photos and drawings or sketches throughout. Dude! and Dude Diary are a combination of graphic comic book and fill in the blank text and each book has a variety of places for your tween/teen boy to draw and add their own graphics and personal touches.

The topics in these two books range from cool super heroes and disgusting body noises to mad monsters and smelly armpits. Dude! has a number of signs that your child can cut out and hang on their school locker or bedroom door. Dude Diary even contains a lock so your tween/teen have "maximum access denial" to their most personal thoughts and ideas.

I really love the presentation of both books. The covers, while paper, are very heavy, glossy stock and will easily withstand repeated use by your tween/teen boy. The inside pages are a heavy stock as well so they can be drawn on with either pencil, crayon, or marker without any bleeding through.

The books are marketed to appeal to tween/teen boys and I see the appeal to that age group without a problem. Heck, even my husband thought parts of the books were pretty neat, so I guess if you are a boy at heart, these books have the potential to appeal to you as well.

Face it, how many grown men still think farts are pretty cool?

The books can be obtained from the Fine Print website.
