Meanwhile on Halloween day in Salem, Massachusetts a woman goes missing. Immediately her husband is accused of being responsible for her disappearance; the man calls his friend and one-time partner, Jeremy Flynn, to help him find his wife.
Rowenna and Jeremy together try to discover the whereabouts of the missing woman. But as bodies start turning up, woman staked out in the cornfields dressed as scarecrows, and the harvest festival gets closer, they realize that time is running out. Jeremy must learn to suspend his disbelief of the supernatural as his past comes back to haunt him.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about Deadly Harvest was that it was more suspense than romance. It included the sex, which was tasteful and nicely done, but it didn’t focus on that or the relationship, which I thought was great. It was nice to read a romance in which the suspense drove the story.
Deadly Harvest had some holes — the end was rushed in my opinion — but Graham kept me guessing about who the killer might be. I’m still hunting for that perfect romantic suspense but until I find it I’m going to be reading some more Heather Graham, starting with Deadly Gift.
