Branding Yourself by Erik Deckers and Kyle Lacy is an excellent resource for anyone selling on the internet. The authors show how to establish an online identification, the best social media tools, the promotion of events, the use of Twitter to share ideas and leveraging online expertise. Tweets are approximately 100 plus characters. The objective is to find people who share your passion. Twhirl is the tool they recommend to connect multiple accounts on Twitter.

The authors advise people to pursue a passion online to be bold and creative through a blog. In essence, a blog is an online diary where expertise can be shared or a product can be developed/sold. Bloggers should do so consistently. In addition, read other people's blogs to establish a reciprocal interest in your own material. Noted platforms are cited; such as, Blogspot, WordPress and Typepad.

The authors provide many details on how to formulate a blog. They advise that designers construct an easy-to-remember URL. The navigation bar should be to the right. The template should be professional in appearance and the domain name should be easily accessible on a search engine.

Facebook can be utilized to develop a community of friends. The advantage is that users can reach millions. The challenge is to make the Facebook name easy to remember. Users should conduct themselves professionally on the net. There is an extensive section on how to set-up Google analytics.

Branding Yourself is an excellent book on how to utilize the net optimally for social networking of virtually every popular usage modality. The book is easy to read and the authors provide many diagrams depicting the use of the various internet tools.
