Believe is the first of a series of five books in the Mind-Over-Matter Series about teaching preschoolers resilience. These picture books are very important to help children to become strong and emotionally intelligent school kids. It is important for parents to read this book to their toddlers so that they can learn some of the hopeful messages presented between the wonderful pages of Kasey Crawford Kellem’s book.
Our culture is fast-paced and technologically focused. Because of this, kids have to be prepared to face many different challenges from a younger and younger age. Challenges and obstacles that used to predominantly affect teens and tweens, such as eating disorders, bullying and anger management, are now affecting younger kids in elementary schools. So, kids need to be taught a lot of important psychological tools so that they could believe in themselves to get through any hardships.
Kellem’s book is one such tool. Believe is about the many ways that kids could learn to be hopeful and resilient. Kids are asked to consider believing in angels, high hopes, happiness, and heaven. They can also believe in more concrete things, such as riding a bike and flying. But, in addition, they have the power within themselves to conquer their fears. What a great message for kids in such an uncertain time!
This is a great book for parents to read to their three to five year old kids. The illustrations are colourful and vivid, portraying the hopes and aspirations of kids. What a gem of a book for kids of all ages and their parents.
