Baltimore Blues, By Laura Lippman, tells the story of Tess Monaghan, an out of work newspaper reporter who stumbles onto a mystery while doing some work for her friend, Daryl "Rock" Paxton. Into the mix of cleverly written lines comes an insider's view of Baltimore, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the nation's capital. From the frist sentence, I was engrossed by the rich scenery and colorful characters. Lippmann is the Jan Karon from just over the Mason Dixon line.
"A sinister cabal of superior writers."
