Audio Book Review - The Destroyer # 100: Last Rites by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir

The Destroyer # 100: Last Rites has Remo Williams being led by his master Chiun, the current master of Sinanju, around the world to fulfill the 13 trials in an effort to complete the Rite of Attainment. To Remo, this is a nightmare that he does not want to enter, but if he is to ever find out who his father was, he will have to complete the tests whether he wants to or not.

The Destroyer # 100: Last Rites is another in a series of Graphic Audio novels that will keep you on the edge of your seat and biting your nails in anticipation of what is around the next turn.

The Destroyer is a paperback series created by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir about a U.S. Government operative named Remo Williams. The first novel was published in 1971 and it is one of the longest-lasting men's adventure series. In May 2007, a new Destroyer: Guardian Angel will be published. The series was also made into a movie in 1985 called Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.

Complete with the traditional political and social satire that the Destroyer series has been known for, The Destroyer # 100: Last Rites takes Remo bouncing around the world to perform the Labors of Hercules that stretch his warrior skills to the limit. Not to mention his male hormones, as he has women throwing themselves at him in an effort to have sex because of his enhanced Sinanju pheromones.

Some of the tasks he has to complete are to run with the bulls in Spain; only, in his case toward them and blindfolded. He has to clean off an island full of gull guano. Fight a Minotaur, move the Sphinx, defeat a polar bear, fight a Sumo, beat a giant squid, get the girdle of an Amazon and much, much more.

Again the quality of the Graphic Audio books is first rate, the story highly entertaining, humorous and both the narration and performance work very well to bring the story off.

You can download a sample MP3 excerpt, or purchase the GraphicAudio Book. The story comes three ways; standard CD, MP3 and downloadable WMA CD (the version I reviewed) with digital rights management.
