52 is the title of a comic book limited series published by DC Comics which debuted on May 10, 2006, one week after the conclusion of the seven-issue Infinite Crisis. The series was written by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, and Mark Waid with layouts by Keith Giffen. 52 consists of 52 issues, published weekly for one year, and is the longest weekly comic book series published by a major North American publisher.
Once again, this Graphic Audio performance brings the story alive. The combination of sound effects and artistic vocal performances creates what Graphic Audio call’s a “Movie in your Mind,” and that is truly what it is.
In the aftermath of of Infinite Crisis, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have disappeared, and no one seems to know what has happened to them. Time traveler Booster Gold, who has taken up corporate sponsorships, is the first to know that something is wrong when the three don't show up at Superboy's funeral; he is, after all, here from the future. At first, Booster thinks that his side-kick Skeets is malfunctioning, but by the time he realizes that something else is going on, it is too late.
Renee Montoya, an alcoholic ex-cop who has been outed as lesbian, spends her days in bars and nights obsessing over the loss of her job and girlfriend. That is, until The Question steps into her life.
Black Adam, the super human leader of Kahndaq, tries to forge a coalition with other countries against the United States' superhuman supremacy until a former slave, Adrianna Tomaz, shows Adam how he can use his abilities to help his country in more peaceful ways. Captain Marvel bestows powers on Tomaz and she, Black Adam, and her brother Amon become the Black Marvel Family.
The questions to be answered in 52 Part I are: what is the fate for Booster Gold and Skeets? Will the Question bring Montoya out of her depression and bring her back to life? What lies in store for the Black Marvel Family? And, most important, what has happened to Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman?
