Are You a Blogcritic?

Interested new writers should go here instead.

Are you a writer? Would you like to increase your visibility, hone your skills, and reach a very large and growing audience? Then Blogcritics may be for you.

We are an online magazine covering music, books, film, TV, video, politics, culture, sports, gaming, science, technology, the Internet - just about everything. We can always use reviews, news and commentary articles on any of these subjects, or pretty much anything that is interesting and well-written. Please take a look around the site to get a feel for how we approach things.

All we ask is that you give your best effort: we are, after all, "a sinister cabal of superior bloggers." If you do not have a blog or site of some kind, we can still work with you, but we would like to see an example or two of your writing.

We would also like you to try to contribute at least once a week — the more you contribute, the more you get out of it — but this is a suggestion, not a rule.

Blogcritics is an excellent way to gain wide exposure for your blog, your writing, your ideas, and to get free review copies of CDs, DVDs, books, games, concert and movie tickets, access to interviews, press releases, story ideas, and much more. Blogcritics.org is a community of writers and editors working together to improve their skills and reach the widest audience possible.

If this makes sense for you, just send me an email (click on my name below) with your name and/or the name you write under, your site URL, and your primary areas of interest and we'll get you signed up. We are also always looking for editors. Thanks very much and I look forward to hearing from you!

this is for all of those faggots trying to blame it on phil anselmo. dont get pissed at him because some psycho took all of his aggression out on dimebag.dont get me wrong, its a sad tragedy that dime's gone. i fuckin read superjoint rituals lyrics and i fuckin loved them, you dont see me thinking that it was meant towards dimebag, fuck all you phil bashers, thanx to you , now we dont have phil or dimebag anymore, because of the media. and lets admit it once and for all, phil stayed true to metal with down and superjoint, and viking crown, now on the other hand damage plan fuckin sucked!!!!!!!!!

    Eric -

If you wouldn't mind revealing your Secret Evil Plan: where do you see Blog Critics going from here? What big things, what landmarks might it hit in the next year?

basically, retaining our independent spirit and edge while moving more into the mainstream: becoming seen as a fully legitimate news, opinion and information source - we are almost there

How do I invite someone to join blogcritics?

  • 20 - Steve S

    Dec 22, 2004 at 1:31 am

Send them an email telling them to check the site out. If they are interested, have them send Eric an email. His email is in the post at top.

If they read your blog, you could always post a thread about how much you enjoy blogcritics and encourage them to visit and join through a link you put in your thread. That would probably get more than one person to join and would increase the amount of stuff you could read in one place (here) anyway, and if it's from your blog, you know it will be from people who have similar interests to you.

It had to come. The Nigerian Finance Minister now has a blogspot of his own. Sounds like he has a great idea, but what he needs is a spell- and grammar-checker. [grin]

good point Dr. Pat - I am now running into the phenomenon of the "clearly (perhaps crassly) commercial blog," which is defined as commerce first and information as distant second as opposed to information, ideas and writing acumen being supported by ads or affiliate programs. I don't see the former offering much to Blogcritics, but I don't want to be a hypocrite either since we are a "commercial" site. I can see the difference clearly -- it's the arrangement of the cart and horse that makes the difference -- but it's hard to come up with an objective definition.

I hope that it is sufficient for readers of BlogCritics to point out the difference. As you say, it's fairly obvious when encountered, even if hard to codify.
