Have you ever stood in front of your closet wondering what to wear?
According to Michelle Madhok and Eileen Conlan, editors of SheFinds.com and authors of Wear This Now: Your Style Solution For Every Season and Any Occasion, we spend on average two years staring into our closet wondering what to wear.
Wear This Now begins by offering tips and suggestions on what to keep in your closet and what to discard. (If you’re like me, I never throw anything out and from season to season I box up clothes and shoes that I haven’t worn in years and then pull them out again to find that I don’t wear them.) The authors say, toss it out.
One of the handy tips Madhok and Conlan suggest is to put everything on a hanger and face it in one direction. As you wear it, face the hanger in the opposite direction. At the end of the season, get rid of anything facing in the original direction. The authors say you would be amazed. (I’m definitely trying that one out!)
The book is well written and well organized. I love how it helps the reader identify the types of clothing that would make the perfect style. Everyone has a different body type and yet, the authors clearly explain what would look good on every type whether you have an apple shape or a rectangle shape.
Madhok and Conlan talk about everything fashion. They discuss the right bra to wear, what type of jewelry would look best with what type of outfit, what shoes go with what and the types of bags go with different looks.
One of my favorite sections is “Shop Like a Pro.” Here, the authors offer tips on the best day to shop, the best deals, and the best shops.
In addition, the book offers a variety of tips including:
• How to wear jeans with flats
• How to find the perfect coat
Wear This Now also takes each season and delves in by offering shopping lists and sharing other important insights like:
• Shop wearing Spanx
• How to wear prints and prints
• Wearing one color (and not black)
• What type of boots to buy that don’t go out of style
The handy fashion calendar offers ideas on what to wear to a wedding, a party, work event, barbeque, and more.
I particularly loved the advice they gave on what to wear on an interview. All too often young people come into my office dressed like they are going to the beach instead of coming in for an interview.
They even talk about what luggage to buy, what to bring when you are on vacation, what to wear on your first date and even what to bring after you deliver your baby.
This book is a great guide for anyone who loves fashion. Although it’s geared for the younger shopper, everyone could benefit by having this book handy in his or her closet. It certainly helped me get organized!Powered by Sidelines
