Tumbleweed Christmas by Beverly Stowe McClure, is a sweet story that depicts the true meaning of Christmas.
We have seen how Christmas has become too commercialized. Merchants rely on getting customer to spend as much money as possible, leaving many people with huge debts.
Tumbleweed Christmas teaches the reader that love is more important than material things. In the story, we encounter Jackie, whose desire is to do something special for her family. Much to Jackie’s dismay, her dad is sick in the hospital, and the family has very little money.
Jackie heeds her mother’s advice about Christmas being a time for miracles. In search of a miracle, she comes up with a solid plan to surprise her parents and sisters.
The part of the story that tugs at my heart strings is the way Jackie comes to the aid of her best friend Daniel, who is having troubles of his own too. The two of them together go off to find the perfect miracle.
The colorful artwork by Bridget McKenna brings the story to life and they complement the story very well.
Thank you for a lovely review, Nicole. I believe in miracles too, especially at Christmas, which is so much more than expensive gifts and Christmas trees. 🙂
