The Flip by Michael Phillip Cash is a thrilling paranormal romance which touches on the current house-flipping lifestyle phenomenon. Set in Long Island, New York, Cash gives us the story of Julie and Brad Evans, a young couple living the house-flipping life who found a great deal on an old house, maybe a deal too good to be true. Hemmings House on Bedlam Street holds an ominous secret and the young couple struggles with fear and fascination for the old house, as strange things begin to happen that challenge the strength of their marriage. There are elements of romance, drama, American slave history, and paranormal mystery, all in one book!
In this well written thriller, Cash did a great job striking a nerve, keeping me scared enough to turn the pages but not so much that I would not want to continue reading. It was so easy to relate to the characters that it made me feel like I was there with them experiencing firsthand what they were going through. The back story presented parallel to the main character’s storyline was just as interesting and intriguing. All the characters felt real and believable as well the descriptions, and the pace was just right. In all this was a quick and easy to read book which I believe would be enjoyable to a large mix of readers.
Cash has mastered in his book, The Flip, a perfect mix of history, with a current housing trend, and paranormal fantasy to create a wonderful plot that is relevant to readers, as well as entertaining. It will hook house flippers and any other reader from start to finish taking them into a fun and thrilling read.
The Flip is definitely a unique paranormal adventure that will make house flippers think twice before disrupting their next old, history rich house and cause them to wonder if its old owners have really moved out! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I look forward to reading Cash’s next book!Powered by Sidelines
