The Dead Still Want to Live by Roxana Jones is delightful and thought-provoking as its fictional storyline takes the reader on a journey of enlightenment. I was thoroughly engrossed in this book from start to finish. The story is full of interesting characters and events that not only touch the reader’s heart, but gives the mind a lot to think about as well. It is easy to connect with the main character, “Madeline,” and witnessing her transformation was empowering. The plot has unexpected twists and keeps the reader engaged and wanting to know what will happen next.
Ms. Jones uses this fictional story to share elements of spirituality that are provocative, giving me ideas to think about that I had never thought of before. It was refreshing and inspiring to discover and uncover new thoughts and beliefs of my own as I read and digested this book. I enjoyed this book because of the dual purpose it has served me. First of all, the story was interesting and fun, which gave it a lightness that most deeply spiritual books lack due to the heaviness of the topic. Secondly, it was very evocative, and had me thinking about the deeper meaning in the story long after I read the words on the pages.
I highly recommend The Dead Still Want to Live to anyone with an interest in a good story with deep and meaningful spiritual insights. It is an easy read that flows well and forces the reader to at least glance at his or her own life and think about how it could be different and better. My perspective on life has been forever changed, and I am excited to learn more from Roxana Jones. I thoroughly enjoyed being enlightened and entertained at the same time. I am eager to read more from this author and plan to read the other books in this trilogy.
