91IsvrVR1dL._SL1500_In his book Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society, noted scholar, international speaker, and author John Horvat II says: “We were a people solidly united around God, flag and family, but now all seems fragmented and polarized.” It is his purpose to provide a platform for an interactive debate on the broad principles of his thesis and the impact and influence of modern technological, economic, and political power and on how this has changed our core value system.

The author focuses on our country’s present economic crisis, massive debt, government spending, and economic instability; he offers a proposal for restoring America to its standing as a great nation.

Horvat writes with acumen and simplicity, creating in the reader a thought-provoking sense of the importance of re-examining their personal world view and core values. The book’s format is reader-friendly, using topical headings, beautiful color photos with explanative captions, and definitive pullout boxes for emphasis. The flow of the book is logical and progressive. Purpose statements and summaries help the reader assimilate the material.

The extensive, well-documented research, footnotes, and wide-ranging bibliography add credence to Horvat’s analyses. I found the glossary to be helpful in interpreting and understanding his contentions.

Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society is a clarion call for balance in our economy and in our personal lives. Highly recommended!

Does this book touch on the Catholic Church?

    • RaymondDrake

The book is on America’s socio-economic troubles, not the Catholic Church per se. However, it does focus on the intersection of morality with economy from the perspective of Catholic morality.
As you can read on the book’s website ( http://www.returntoorder.org/testimonials/ ) this is what Archbishop Nienstedt of St. Paul-Minneapolis had to say about the book: “By calling the reader to embrace the cardinal virtues of temperance, justice, prudence and fortitude, Return to Order suggests a practical pathway to avoid the economic and spiritual crises that are looming before us and, by means of religious conversion, reestablish a right order for human flourishing. I hope that this work will receive the attention it so deserves.”
