Robert E. Gross’ Memoir & Misadventures of a Mad Inventor, is a short, sweet, hilarious, beautiful book that will take readers inside the innocence, resourcefulness, and crazy imagination of a young boy with a lot of time on his hands.
Gross travels back in time to his own youth, when he was growing up in a farm, as he re-visits his summer adventures as a mad Inventor, to bring readers a glimpse of his own mind at an age when everything is possible, or at least worth the try.
Robert’s adventures with his inventions took me back to my own childhood as I laughed out loud at all of the malfunctions of each project, which he conducted with help of his brother and his friend.
From ocean adventures on the farm’s pond to daredevil stunts with their very own “unicycles,” the stories in this book kept me smiling and laughing, and inspired me to revisit my own adventures as a young boy.
Written beautifully, Memoir & Misadventures of a Mad Inventor is a must-read for all young at heart. Definitely a five-star book as an excellent, easy-to-read book that will fill your heart with warm laughter…just don’t try his inventions at home!
