Riding the EtherRiding the Ether is the second book in KD Grace’s Lakeland Heatwave series. Having read and loved the first book, Body Temperature and Rising, I eagerly anticipated the release of this one.

This book deals with Cassandra Larkin, a woman who keeps her ravenous and dangerous sexual appetite secret until she seduces Anderson, a ghost, in the mysterious void of the Ether. The trouble is, it’s dangerous to linger too long in the Ether, and as sex is such an easy way to spend time, lots of time, it’s dangerous to partake in the Ether. However, she has more than sexual feelings for Anderson, and it appears the ghost feels the same, so staying apart is not really an option.

Soon, though, further danger is thrown Cassandra’s way when the treacherous demon, Deacon, discovers the truth about her. He plots to use her sex magic for revenge on Tara Stone and the Elemental Coven, who practice their own brand of sex magic. The coven want to stand together with Cassandra, but will she face up to her powers and what they really mean, or will she run?

The thing to bear in mind is that you really need to have read the first book before you start this one. It will stand alone to a certain extent, but there will be lots you don’t know or understand.

Overall, Riding the Ether was another very enjoyable book from KD Grace. It’s an action-packed, erotic paranormal tale with lots of sex of every flavour; straight, gay, lesbian, ménage… the list goes on. So if you love yourself some seriously hot supernatural action, then you should definitely check out Riding the Ether.
