While Jenny Bentley’s, Flipped Out, may seem like any other themed cozy saturating the shelves, this installment proves otherwise. Bentley seals this fifth volume with a solid mystery that strengthens the series. The renovation tips are creatively woven into the story as Avery gets down to business.

Avery Baker’s latest renovation project is for local news anchor Tony “the Tiger” Micelli’s Maine cottage. Avery and boyfriend, Derek Ellis, are bubbling with excitement because the makeover is going to be filmed as part of a home-renovation television show. Unfortunately, this DIY ends up with Tony DOA on a slab. Amateur sleuth Avery’s next project is to nail down a killer before the inhabitants of Waterfield topple over like a home build on shoddy foundation.

Flipped Out is hilarious. Bentley’s Do-It-Yourself mystery delivers a good time without trying too hard to make the reader laugh:  lush with detailed descriptions, anchored with a well-plotted tale and a charming setting that showcases Bentley’s storytelling expertise. Oh, let’s not forget, Bentley’s well developed characters are what makes this cozy so endearing, entertaining and enthralling!
