As a mother to ten children, it is not very often that I can find some “me” time. With laundry, cooking, school, and work, I am always happy when just for a moment I can sit down and relax. Then the question is, “What am I going to do in this quiet moment?” Usually the answer is “Read!”
When I opened the book Deedee Divine’s Totally Skewed Guide to Life by Diana Estill and read the table of contents I knew that I was going to be entertained. Already I could relate to the first segment of the book titled "Family That Does Not Kill You Makes You Stronger." Isn’t that the truth?
After reading that first section of articles I was hooked. I continued to read about "Food & Fitness(Lost in Taste)," "Romance and Other Myths" and "Health, Beauty & Other Pricey Pursuits." Each section of the book contains several small articles where you can read one in just a few minutes. This is a great read for the mom on-the-go or anyone who needs to pick up their spirits with a little humor.
As for me, humorous stories about motherhood, the holidays, diet and romance filled my afternoon with the well needed break from mundane, everyday activities. Finally I reach the advice I was looking for: “How to Look 10 Pounds Thinner in a Swimsuit.” With summer just around the corner, I knew this book was going to assist me during swimsuit season. I really don’t need to start that diet.
You may be asking who is Deedee Divine? Well, according to Diana Estill, she is every other woman out there. Deedee Divine is the alter ego to every woman who has responsibilities. Deedee Divine is the fun personality we all have hiding inside of us. She is the one who will take everyday situations and find the humor in them.
Deedee Divine’s Totally Skewed Guide to Life is the third book for humorist Diana Estill. Totally Skewed has been awarded as a Best Books Award Finalist by USA Book News. Deedee teaches us to laugh through our struggles, have fun through our frustrations and make the most of ever day existence.
As I come to the end of my “me” time I sit and ponder on the lessons I have learned here. All of that work I complain about does not appear to be as big of a burden as it seemed before. Now I have learned to laugh my way through it all and find joy in being another Deedee Divine.
