Change Your Conversation, Change Your Life, by Malinda Dowsett and Lani Barna, is about projecting the real you to the world. Our challenge in this life is to identify and maintain inner joy. To do this, each of us must be in total control at all times.

You are the only one who knows what is right for you. You are the only one who can choose what best serves you. You are the only one who will live your life. In your day-to-day routine don’t forget that you are the only one in control. Others may pretend they are control. Others may entice you to give up control because if they can control the way you feel, they will feel better about themselves.

How do you choose between competing alternatives? Look to what is right for you intuitively. In addition, identify what you would like to replace and select a choice which gives you a better intuitive feeling.

Be aware of thoughts and feelings and select reachable goals. Take the time to create a vision. This is a perfect way to put aside the past in order to clarify the direction of your life on all levels. In selecting reachable goals, try to imagine the outcomes of alternative paths. This analysis will help crystalize which path(s) to take.

Where attention goes energy flows. What you talk about, you think about; and what you think about, you bring about, every single time.

What does it mean to be conscious or awake? Buddha means “the awakened one.” How to awake is what he taught. Self-awareness is congruent with being awake.

There is a non-physical side of you. The non-physical side can be referred to variously as the spirit, conscience, consciousness, soul, aura, inner wisdom or even inner guidance. Each concept refers to intelligent energy which is the non-physical side of being. Every cell in the body emits 1.14 volts of electricity. There are 52 trillion cells in the body. And so, all of our daily activities focus on non-physical energy- the power behind our thoughts projected onto the physical world.

Quantum physics tells us that whatever we observe snaps into existence and becomes our reality. This is known as the Copenhagen interpretation referred to by Dowsett and Barna. The concept admits that everything in the subatomic world exists probabilistically and that measurement (our attention or attention span ) plays a vital role. Consequentially, our attention is what brings thoughts to life.

Dowsett and Barna explain how to become more self aware. Each night before going to bed, take a pen and paper to hand, and write down all of the salient thoughts during the day. The purpose of the exercise is to become aware of what you are dwelling on in everyday life. Listen to your own conversations and then purify your space. This is a good methodology for identifying negative thoughts and replacing them with more positive ones.

Change Your Conversation, Change Your Life is a wonderful book for organizing your thoughts and the direction of life itself. Self awareness is the condition precedent to taking positive action to change negativities which surround us all. There are times when changing the conversation is the right thing to do. Other times, we must stand our ground to affirm that the right conversation is taking place in the first place and change may be counterproductive. The presentation will appeal to a general readership.
