A Crack in Everything is a debut mystery novel that is well written and full of characters that you will quickly like and want to get to know better.

The story revolves around Susan Callisto, a lawyer and political consultant in Boston. When Charles Renfrow, the head of a biotech company that just may be a bit shady, enters Susan’s life things take a turn for the worse and chaos ensues! People are getting hurt and everyone looks guilty.

I admit, the book started out confusing for me. There were a lot of characters, lots of things going on that didn’t seem to have a place in the story and that made keeping up and following along a bit hard. BUT, the author knew what she was doing and tied everything together quite well. It was not a long book, only 250 pages, but because of all that was going on it was not an “easy” read for me. I had to stop and re-read parts when I started getting lost.

I enjoyed all the twists and turns that went on in the story. There were suspects galore, and I think for me everyone was a suspect and I was hard pressed to figure it out on my own. Getting to the conclusion was fun and full of surprises. I hope the author lets us meet up with Susan Callisto again in the future.

Highly recommended for suspense fans who like a smile with their mysteries.
