All the Dr. Who a Dr. Who fan could want.

Blogcritics on BBC’s Doctor Who 2

Blogcritics Matthew Milam and Daniel Woolstencroft have been exploring and explaining the BBC's new Doctor Who – with a new doctor or two – to befuddled Americans all season long:

DrWho2Doctor Who Should Go Solo For A While
I hate to say it, but Rose ended up being a better developed character than The Doctor himself.

TV Review: Doctor Who, "The Impossible Planet"
It's another two-parter!

TV Review: BBC's Doctor Who – "The Satan Pit"
This two-parter felt like the 1996 TV movie in quality, which Fox would have been fine with.

TV Review: Doctor Who – "The Idiot's Lantern"
It's almost like a kid-friendly version of The Ring.

TV Review: Doctor Who – "The Age Of Steel"
I thought, perhaps naively, that the second part of Dr. Who's Cybermen return story would be better.

TV Review: Doctor Who – "The Impossible Planet"
Despite my issues with the supporting characters and the increased cheese factor, one cannot deny the scenery of this episode.

TV Review: Doctor Who – "The Idiot's Lantern"
Unfortunately, this one adds on more than its plot should need.

Americans Should Give The New Doctor Who A Chance
For me, it’s a matter of the script and who writes it.

TV Review: BBC's Doctor Who – "The Age Of Steel"
Having only seen the Cybermen in clips on various documentaries, they do appear to be more menacing than the Daleks.

TV Review: Doctor Who: 2 – 5: "Rise of the Cybermen"
The Cybermen return in the disappointing fifth episode of this season of Doctor Who.

I wonder who else they could bring back for Series 3?

TV Review: Doctor Who 2 – 4: "The Girl in the Fireplace"
Steven Moffat wasn't a writer I associated with Doctor Who. I enjoyed Coupling, but I couldn't quite grasp how writing a sitcom about the lives and loves of four friends qualified you to write an episode of Doctor Who.

TV Review: Doctor Who 2 – 3: "School Reunion"
It's important to remember that Doctor Who isn't just for adults. There's a great deal for adults to enjoy, that's always been the case, but this is television that's not exclusively aimed at us so-called grown ups. Quite the opposite.

I was waiting for a sex scene – I was that into it.

TV Review: BBC's Doctor Who – "School Reunion"
As in the previous two episodes, the creature of the week was the main focus. This time, it’s bat people.

TV Review: BBC's Doctor Who – "Tooth and Claw"
If you ever wanted to know what an unfocused screenplay looked like, any Russell Davies script will do.

TV Review: Doctor Who – "New Earth"
With a bigger budget and a much younger actor, can Doctor Who still tell great stories?
