The BC Network

Filed under: Administrivia, Most Excellent — Phillip Winn @ 9:31 am

Has it been more than a month? It really has. Wow.

We’ve been busy, and not just with holiday stuff. We’ve launched the Blogcritics Network! Right now it’s only two sites, but that will change in coming months. We’ve got plans; oh yes, we’ve got plans.

For now, the new site is Desicritics.org, which is really exciting. There’s a press release online, but the short version is that it’s like Blogcritics, only for Desis. Desis are people with ties to or roots in South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and so on).

Future sites in the network will be even more different, with a specific focus in many cases, perhaps highlighting a specific collection of the best of BC, or perhaps focusing on entirely new areas of interest. We may even include a wiki, just to be different.

Everything else that’s happened? Boring. I mean, exciting to the right people, but boring. I wrote a concurrency-control system using AJAX, which is cool to geeky people like me. (I wrote about it on BC.) We’re back in Google News, after technical problems knocked us out for a while. We just posted the 40,000th BC article yesterday.

Wait, that’s pretty big news. I may have more to say on that.
